A death of a Rio Grande do Norte individual last April is now being called the third Zika-related fatality in Brazil, according to the Brazil Health Ministry (computer translated).

Apparently, according to the report, the 20 year old from the city of Serrinha, in Rio Grande do Norte was hospitalized for 11 days with respiratory problems. The patient died last April , but the test results came out just now.

This would be the third Zika-related fatality reported by the health ministry.

The Public Health Department of Rio Grande do Norte (Sesap) has not yet ruled officially on the confirmation; however, according to the Minister of Health, there is no doubt.

The details of the case is as follows: This patient was hospitalized on April 11, 2015 in their municipality with symptoms of dry cough and continuous. The patient developed cough with bleeding and due to increased seriousness of symptoms, the patient was transferred to the Hospital Giselda Trigueiro in Natal on Apr. 12. On April 23, the patient died with the initial cause of death called pneumonia. The case was investigated by the Evandro Chagas Institute,which discovered acute infection Zika virus.
