The Costa Rica Ministry of Health reported 211 COVID-19-related deaths the week ending September 18, a 12.8 percent increase from the week before (187).

This is a daily average of 30 people who lose their lives related to the COVID-19 disease.

In addition, during the week of Sept. 12-18, the average number of hospitalized cases was 1,323, while the average for week Sept. 5-11 was 1,289 admitted cases, showing an increase of 2.6% in total hospitalizations.

Concerning new COVID-19 cases, health officials reported a decrease week over week–15,182 cases last week versus 17,667 cases two weeks ago–a 14 percent decrease.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Costa Rica has recorded 515,931 cumulative cases and 6,128 deaths.
