The Hon. Health Minister was presented with the award by Regional Director of the World Health Organisation, Dr. Carissa Etienne on Tuesday July 7th.

She said to the nation’s Hon. Health Minister, “This is as a result of very strong immunization coverage; something that Dominica has had for more than 30 years.

“Certainly it should be a tribute to the Ministry of Heath and to all of the healthcare workers all over Dominica that Dominica is officially free of Measles, Rubella and Congenital Rubella Syndrome.”

While on the subject, Dr. Etienne referred to the announcement of Cuba being certified free of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS.

She revealed that the region may be free- certainly Dominica- but may not be officially certified.
