In a follow-up to my interview last week about Clostridium difficile, Rodrigo Muñoz, a Clinical Outreach Associate and Princeton Project 55 Fellow with the Massachusetts-based non profit stool bank, OpenBiome joined me on Sunday’s show to go into more detail about Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) as a treatment for C. difficile infection and the products and servives offered by OpenBiome.
Discussions then turned to Zika virus and the potential for international spread. Assistant Professor, Dept. of Medicine at the University of Toronto and co-author of a correspondence in The Lancet, Dr. Isaac Bogoch joined me to talk about the global Zika virus spread model and what they found as we close in on the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.
During the second half of the show, Forbes health and science columnist, Tara Haelle joined me to discuss recent article she wrote on the progress of a Group B streptococcus vaccine and the calls for a Zika vaccine as that virus spreads throughout the Western hemisphere.
