The patient who was admitted and isolated as a suspected case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) on Monday, has been confirmed negative for the lethal virus, according to officials at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City today.
Now that Ebola virus has been ruled out, he will be moved to lower level isolation.
The unnamed man called the hospital on Monday and later arrived there with symptoms and was met by hospital staff wearing personal protection equipment.
He reportedly worked as a medic on a medical boat off the west coast of Africa and hails from Kansas City.
The 2nd Ebola patient, Amber Vinson, like Pham, contracted the virus while treating the Liberian man, Thomas Eric Duncan, who later died from EVD. She is being transported to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for treatment of the disease.
