The Florida Department of Health announced today that it is conducting an investigation into a possible non-travel related case of Zika virus in Miami-Dade County.

The department is actively conducting an epidemiological investigation, is collaborating with the Centers for Disease Control and will share additional details as they become available.
Mosquito control has already conducted reduction and prevention activities in the area of investigation.
Florida health officials also reported seven new travel-related cases with three in Broward, three in Orange and one in Miami-Dade counties. This brings the state totals to 283 total cases not involving pregnant women and 43 cases involving pregnant women regardless of symptoms.
There have been 28 counties included in the declaration– Alachua, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Duval, Escambia, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Okaloosa, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Santa Rosa, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie and Volusia.
