Earlier this week, we reported on a travel-associated Zika virus case in a El Paso County, Texas resident, which has been linked to travel to Miami, FL.

Today, the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is reporting an imported Zika case in a Taiwanese resident who traveled to Miami.

The 44-year-old woman from New Taipei City visited Miami during July 31 and August 11, 2016 for business. After she returned to Taiwan, she sought medical attention after developing rash on her legs and abdomen. Infection with Zika virus was confirmed in the case by the Taiwan CDC laboratory.

This is the sixth imported Zika case in Taiwan.

She is not pregnant and all her symptoms have subsided. She is currently in good health. The case has been asked to stay home, prevent mosquito bites, and isolate herself till August 23.
