Ninety-two passengers and five crew members have been taken ill with symptoms of vomiting on the latest Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder.
About 3.5 percent of the more than 2600 passengers onboard the vessel got ill. The cause of the outbreak is unknown to date.
In response to the outbreak, Disney Cruise Line and the crew aboard the ship reported the following actions: Increasing cleaning and disinfection procedures according to their outbreak prevention and response plan, Collecting stool specimens from passenger and crew gastrointestinal illness cases for testing, and Making multiple daily reports of gastrointestinal illness cases to the Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP).
A CDC VSP environmental health officer is making plans to board the ship upon arrival in the port of Miami on May 1, 2016 to conduct an environmental health assessment and evaluate the outbreak and response activities.

The “92” number was from the FIRST day. By the time we got back to Miami it seemed like 200+ were sick. Disney did their best to minimize the disruptions and sanitize things, but they also seemed to be not wanting to record additional sicknesses when you tried to report them. It was a really, really bad outbreak.
