The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) reported an additional 77 confirmed Lassa fever cases the week ending January 15, bringing the cumulative confirmed cases to 105 in 2023 to date.
The cases were reported from the following states: Ondo (33), Edo (25), Ebonyi (6), Bauchi (5), Benue (4), Kogi (1), Imo (1), Oyo (1) and Nasarawa (1).
In addition, six deaths were reported this week, bringing the total deaths to seven to date (6.7% CFR).

In total for 2023, 10 States have recorded at least one confirmed case across 30 Local Government Areas.
During the same period in 2021, 96 confirmed cases and 11 deaths were reported. In all of 2021, Nigeria reported 1067 confirmed Lassa fever cases, including 189 deaths (17.7% CFR).
