According to a report in the Nigerian news source, Punch, top officials with the hospital held an emergency meeting after testing the young patient. In addition, it was observed that hospital staff were disinfecting the area.

Though, medical officials in the hospital denied that the suspected student tested positive to EVD, they said the Federal Government Emergency Ebola Team has been contacted, the report states.

It is reported that the patient claimed she was from Port Harcourt, where there has been at least 3 confirmed cases of Ebola.

An hospital official said, “A patient was brought to the health centre and due to the fact that she lives in Port Harcourt, there were fears that it might be Ebola. We have carried out tests on the victim and found that she is suffering from fever.

The World Health Organization reported that as of Sept. 6 there has been 21 EVD cases in Nigeria, including 8 deaths.
