According to the Ministry of Health (computer translated), the patient is a 32-year-old woman from the district of La Molina (Lima) who contracted the virus through sexual activity with her 39-year-old husband, who contracted the virus during his recent trip to Maturin (Monagas capital in Venezuela).

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has ruled out transmission by the Aedes aegypti mosquito vector. The National Institute of Health detected the virus in the semen of the man. Currently the two cases have recovered.

The Ministry of Health has evaluated 598 people to rule Zika virus disease, which, including this case brings the total positive cases to seven.
