On Sunday, Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo announced that she and some of her staff are undergoing isolation after exposure to a COVID-19 positive patient last week.

“On Friday morning, we learned that someone, my chief of staff and I had very close contact with, tested positive for COVID. Following protocols, we decided to do self-quarantine beginning Friday until we get a swab test,” she said.

The Vice President is currently asymptomatic

In Manila, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that Malacañang wished her good health.

Today, the Philippines recorded 2,223 newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the country total to 370,028 confirmed cases.

Quezon City tops the list of areas with the most number of new cases with 112 infections, followed by Laguna with 111, Rizal with 109, Cavite with 79 and Batangas with 74.

The Department of Health (DOH) saw 43 additional deaths, pushing the total number of fatalities nationwide to 6,977.
