Dengue outbreak declared in Aklan

The provincial government has declared a dengue outbreak in Aklan because of the “alarming increase” in cases in the province.

The declaration was made during the Provincial Anti-Dengue Task Force meeting with Governor Florencio Miraflores in Kalibo on Monday, July 15.

Zambo Sibugay declares state of calamity due to dengue

Gov. Wilter Yap Palma has issued an order for the conduct of a province-wide synchronized clean-up on Friday to eliminate breeding places of dengue-causing mosquitoes.

Palma issued the order after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed a resolution Tuesday declaring this province under state of calamity amid the rising cases of dengue.

NDRRMC: 15,803 dengue cases, 89 deaths recorded in Regions VI, VIII

A total of 89 individuals have died due to dengue in Regions VI (Western Visayas) and VIII (Eastern Visayas) from January 1 to July 12, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Tuesday.

In its situation report, the NDRRMC said a total of 15,803 dengue cases have been reported in the regions during the same period.

Soccsksargen registers 151% spike in dengue cases

The Department of Health in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) has recorded a 151 percent increase in dengue cases, with 42 deaths for the first six months of this year.

Jenny Ventura Panizales, DOH-12 focal person for dengue and measles prevention program, said that the number of dengue patients increased to 9,363 from January 1 to July 6 this year, compared to 3, 727 cases in the same period in 2018.

The provincial government of Negros Occidental and the city government here have intensified their respective campaigns against dengue fever amid the continued increase in cases as of this month.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson issued Executive Order No. 19-19 pertaining to the dengue heightened alert, citing the Regional Advisory No. 10 of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) in Western Visayas dated July 9, which includes the guidelines on the declaration of dengue epidemic outbreak at the local government unit (LGU) level.
