The Department of Health (DOH) recorded an additional 520 Delta variant cases nationally, bringing the cumulative total to 5,331.
According to Department of Health Epidemiology Bureau OIC-Director Althea De Guzman, “The percent of Delta variant detected (in the country) has increased from 4.9 percent in June to 99.8 percent of lineages detected in October”.
The top three regions with the most number of new Delta variant cases are Cordillera Administrative Region with 78 infections; Bicol Region, 75; and Cagayan Valley, 61.
The Delta variant is now detected in all 17 regions of the Philippines, including the National Capital Region.
Today, the DOH recorded 1,591 new COVID-19 cases–the lowest number in eight months (February). This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 2,793,898.
Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 43,586 with 186 new deaths.
