In a follow-up to the suspect Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Brazil, health officials reported (computer translated) the patient has been released from isolation after a second Ebola test returned negative.

After the test results, conducted by the Respiratory Virus Lab and Measles Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (IOC / FIOCRUZ), the patient was released from isolation and receive discharge from the hospital at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases Evandro Chagas (INI / FIOCRUZ / RJ).

The Ministry of Health has informed the Secretariat of Health of the State of Minas Gerais on the test results and the 95 people who had contact with the patient and were being monitored have been released from the monitoring.

The Ministry of Health points out that the National Health System (SUS) has adopted all necessary procedures for the termination of a possible virus transmission chain, following the International Health Regulations. It should be noted that all monitoring measures to identify a possible suspect case will be retained.

Anyone arriving from Guinea (Africa), the only country with active transmission of the Ebola virus in, and run a fever up to 21 days after arrival in Brazil, will be considered on a case suspicious and be isolated immediately to application of international protocol.
