Health officials in Serbia reported 238 cases of syphilis in 2021, which represents an incidence rate of 3.45 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The number of reported cases of syphilis in 2021 is higher than in 2020, ie the registered incidence rate in 2021 is the highest in the last 10 years.
The highest number of syphilis cases was recorded in Belgrade – 129, with an incidence of 7.61 per 100,000 inhabitants.
“In the absolute number of cases in Belgrade, men dominate (124 cases). A total of 81 cases were registered in (the province) Vojvodina, ie an incidence rate of 4.40/100,000 inhabitants. The largest number of cases in Vojvodina was in South Backa District (65), where the incidence rate is 10.51/100,000 inhabitants.”
