South Africa’s  National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) confirmed Thursday that no case of Ebola has been reported nor have they been asked to test for a suspected sample of Ebola from neighboring countries.

This comes when false reports of Ebola being detected in Lesotho were reported earlier this week.

The NICD houses the only biosafety level 4 laboratory for Southern Africa to diagnose Ebola. The NICD, in addition, understands that countries, from time to time, perform Ebola Virus Disease simulation exercises to test their preparedness for disease outbreaks and threats.
