In a follow-up to a report yesterday concerning a suspected Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in an individual recently returned from Africa, Irish health authorities report today that laboratory testing shows the patient is negative for the virus.

Ireland’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE) made the announcement in a statement released today.

Infection control procedures, which had been put in place as a precautionary measure, will now be stepped down.

The HSE expressed its condolences to the individual’s family and friends for their loss. For more infectious disease news and information, visit and “like” the Infectious Disease News Facebook page
