Thailand health officials recorded another daily COVID-19 case record Thursday with 22,782 total cases reported–22,399 local cases (not in prisons), 8 imported cases and 375 in prisoners. The previous high was 21,838 recorded Saturday, August 7.

In addition, 147 COVID-19 related fatalities were reported, 70 from Bangkok and 108 from the Greater Bangkok area.

During the past 28 days, Thailand has seen 453,960 COVID-19 cases and 3861 deaths. This is 54 percent of the total cases since the beginning of the pandemic (839,771) and 56 percent of the total deaths (6942).

To date, 18,188,298 COVID-19 total vaccine doses have been administered.

The surge of COVID-19 cases in Thailand has prompted the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to advise the public to avoid travel to Thailand–“Level 4: Very High Level of COVID-19 in Thailand”.

Health officials note if you must travel to Thailand, make sure you are fully vaccinated before travel. Because of the current situation in Thailand, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants.
