The Bolivia Ministry of Health and Sports reported Sunday an additional 353 dengue fever cases, bringing the country total for the year at 2,221.
The department of Santa Cruz tops the number of infected with a total of 1,641, followed by Beni 403, Tarija 78, La Paz 55, Pando 16, Chuquisaca 20 and Cochabamba 8.
The comprehensive strategy “Health Defense Shields Against Dengue and other Arbovirosis” that deployed more than 5,000 people on Sunday in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, resulted in out of 188,660 mosquito breeding sites and intervened in 5,386 apple trees, the Minister of Health and Sports, Jeyson Auza, reported on Monday.
“Yesterday we have eliminated 188,660 mosquito breeding sites, with this action more than 179,000 people who live in that region have been protected, we are talking about 5,386 apple trees in the municipality of Santa Cruz and it has been possible to help with the I work in 43,068 homes,” the authority specified.

In joint work with the Ministry of Defense, the municipality of Santa Cruz de la Sierra and leaders, led by the Ministry of Health, more than 5,000 people have been mobilized with the aim of preventing the dengue outbreak, eliminating mosquito breeding sites with the application of larvicides, fumigation, elimination of tons of waste and health care.
“The national government is here to take care of the health of its people, of the people of Santa Cruz, yesterday our action gave important results, saying that in one day they have been able to eliminate 188,660 mosquito breeding sites and protect more than 179,000 people is a very important work”, endorsed Auza.
