The Center for Water and Food Transmission Diseases (NDTHA) of the Health Department of Acre (Sesacre) reports of the 22 municipalities in Acre, 11 are on high alert– Assis Brasil, Capixaba, Cruzeiro do Sul, Epitaciolândia, Feijó, Jordão, Marshal Thaumaturgo, Rodrigues Alves, Santa Rosa, Senator Guiomard and Tarauacá– due to a diarrhea outbreak that has affected some 20,000 people this year through September 25.

This compares with approximately 13,500 cases during the same period last year.
The Sesacre Health Surveillance Department is carrying out a survey to determine the the possible causes of the increase in cases.
Surveillance actions in health, primary and primary care, medical and laboratory assistance are already being carried out in the last ten epidemiological weeks to discover the causes of the disease outbreak.
