The Bulgaria Ministry of Health reports 57 cases of the SARS- CoV-2 Delta variant, also known as the Indian variant, which were identified by NCIPD by genomic sequencing. A total of 90 clinical samples were analyzed.
Viral variants of increased importance for public health were found in all of them, of which: 33 (36.7%) were Alpha (B.1.1.7) and 57 (63.3%) were Delta (B.1.617.2).
Clinical samples were taken from patients with COVID-19 in the period June 29 to July 16, 2021 and were sent from 18 districts in the country.
