Individuals who were in the below-noted locations during the specified dates and times may have been exposed to measles:

Individuals who were exposed on March 29th, in the locations and timeframes noted above, AND do not have history of receiving two doses of measles-containing vaccine, will be offered immunization April 1, 2019 at Brentwood Village Mall AHS Immunization Clinic at 302 3630 Brentwood Road NW from 11:00 am to 6:30 pm as a preventative measure.

Individuals who were exposed on dates before March 29th, are no longer eligible for preventative vaccine.

Two cases of measles infection have been reported to Island Health. Both people acquired the infection while traveling abroad. Both people sought care in the South Island.

Toronto Public Health (TPH) is investigating a lab-confirmed case of measles in an adult resident who acquired the infection in another country. Individuals are reminded that the measles virus is circulating in many countries and that they should check to ensure they are protected against measles before travelling.
The public may have been exposed to the measles virus in the following setting:
March 20 at Vaughan Mills, 1 Bass Pro Mills Dr., Vaughan, Ontario, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.
According to the Canadian government, 27 cases of measles have been reported in Canada in 2019 through Mar. 16.
These cases were reported by Québec, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Ontario, and Alberta.
