The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published recently a short, 2-minute video on how antibiotic-resistant germs are spreading between healthcare facilities, even those that are practicing infection control and antibiotic stewardship.
They note that by adopting a coordinated approach, however, where multiple facilities in an area work together to improve infection control and stewardship activities, we can reduce the spread of antibiotic-resistant infections and protect patients.
Antibiotic-resistant germs cause more than 2 million illnesses and at least 23,000 deaths each year in the United States.
