In a follow-up to a story WednesdayChief Medical Officer, Dr. Kevin Harvey is confirming that Jamaica now has its first imported case of chikungunya.  According to a Jamaica Information Service report Thursday,  the sample sent on Tuesday to Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) tested positive for the mosquito borne virus.

“The Ministry will continue with its heightened surveillance and will be taking steps to reduce the vector through its vector control programme.
