The number of cases as of Tuesday stand at 13. The patients range in age of 11 to 73 years. These are seven women and six men, of which 10 are Costa Ricans and three foreigners, registering positive cases in San José, Heredia, Guanacaste and Alajuela.

Patients are isolated in their homes or medical centers and with full monitoring by health authorities.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health confirmed that the number of suspected cases by COVID-19 is 179, of which 165 are health professionals from the Alajuela Hospital who had direct contact with the 54-year-old patient who is hospitalized in serious condition.

In addition, The Minister of Health, Daniel Salas, announced the detail of the “Temporary administrative measures for the attention of activities of massive concentration” before the emergency by COVID-19. These guidelines suspend the sanitary authorizations granted by the governing body to mass concentration activities.

The measures are mandatory, throughout the national territory, as part of the preventive and mitigation actions issued by the Ministry of Health for the attention of the yellow alert by COVID-19.

The activities that are suspended are: concerts, public shows, fairgrounds, bullfighting activities, equestrian activities, sporting events (competitive and / or recreational), popular celebrations, fairs and community shifts, as well as entertainment activities in shopping centers.
All public meeting sites are also contemplated, which have their respective sanitary operating permit, such as: event rooms, conference centers, as well as the Melico Salazar Popular Theater and National Theater.

The suspension will be based on the determination of that activity that favors the emergence of a very high number of simultaneous transmission chains, generated from the same event of concentration of people.

It should be noted that the following public gathering sites are excluded from suspension: bars, restaurants, mobile food services to the public, coffee shops, sodas, theaters, cinemas, hotels and the like, farmer’s fairs, temples and shopping centers. Mandatory disinfection and cleaning measures are established for this type of establishment.
