In a follow-up on the dengue outbreak in Argentina, 84,433 cases of dengue were reported in the country, of which 78,725 acquired the infection in Argentina through the end of April, the Ministry of Health reports.
The virus is currently circulating in 16 jurisdictions corresponding to four regions: Central Region (Buenos Aires; Autonomous City of Buenos Aires -CABA-; Córdoba; Entre Ríos; Santa Fe); NEA region (Corrientes; Formosa; Chaco), NOA region (Catamarca; Jujuy; La Rioja; Salta; Santiago del Estero; Tucumán) and Cuyo Region (San Luis and Mendoza).
In relation to the above, it should be noted that when observing the curve of cases, a lower number of cases is registered for the third consecutive week than in the epidemiological week13, consolidating the downward trend at the country level.
To date, the predominant circulation of DENV-2 has been registered in the country with 82.11% of the subtyped cases; followed by DENV-1, at 17.82%; and DENV-3, in very low circulation, with 0.07%.
At the regional level, DENV-2 predominates in NOA and Centro and DENV1 in NEA, in which there are few cases with a predominance of DENV-1 in San Luis and DENV-2 in Mendoza.
