The Taiwan Department of Disease Control announced the first case of local dengue fever in Taoyuan City. The patient is a 70-year-old woman from Renmei Li, Zhongli District.

She presented with symptoms of joint pain and fever and sought medical treatment for suspected flu. She was later tested with the NS1 dengue screening procedure and was confirmed with dengue virus type 2.
The individual mainly stayed at home and too the local market. She had no recent history of travel to Tainan City and Kaohsiung City.
Health officials have have gone to the place of residence to carry out cleaning, a spraying operation, public health education and the expansion of the inspection.
So far this year, Taiwan has reported 65 cases of local dengue fever– 48 cases in Kaohsiung City, 16 cases in Tainan City and one in Taoyuan City.
