The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has started the clock for the countdown to the end of the 12th Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in the country since 1976.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said: The last Ebola patient in DRC was discharged from a treatment centre in Katwa yesterday! With no more confirmed Ebola cases, a 42-day countdown to declaring the end of DRC’s Ebola outbreak begun just 37 days after the resurgence of the virus.
The current outbreak was declared on 7 February.
Twelve cases (11 confirmed) and six deaths have been reported.
