CDC director, Dr. Thomas Frieden said the individual left Liberia on Sept. 19 and arrived in the US on Sept. 20. The patient developed symptoms four days later and was admitted to the hospital. Samples were confirmed by the CDC and Texas state health lab as Ebola Zaire.

The CDC and state health officials will locate contacts, which will be watched for the prescribed incubation time.

“I have no doubt we will contain this Ebola”, Frieden exclaimed.

Dr. Edward Goodman with the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas said they had a plan in place for the occurrence of a patient with Ebola. For more infectious disease news and information, visit and “like” the Infectious Disease News Facebook
