According to CDC representative, Kristen Nordlund, Sacra will be transported in an aerobiomedical containment system, otherwise known as “the pod”; however, it is still not known when this will occur or where Dr. Sacra will be treated.
The first two Americans who contracted Ebola, Dr. Kent Brantly and Mrs. Nancy Writebol, were both brought to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital. They have both since recovered and been released.
Dr. Sacra is currently being treated at the 35- bed ELWA (which stands for Eternal Love Winning Africa) Hospital, which is run by SIM, in Liberia.
Sacra has been with SIM since the 1980s and is a practicing family practice physician in Massachusetts. He is married and has three children.
