New imported chikungunya cases reported from Broward, Clay, Hillsborough and Miami-Dade Counties during the past week has brought the total number of cases in Florida to 18, according to the Florida Department of Health.
The Florida Department of Health’s (FLDOH) Arbovirus Surveillance for week 22 (May 25-31) shows the countries of origin for the 18 cases include Dominica, Dominican Republic (3), Haiti (12) and Martinique (2).
An additional imported dengue fever case was also reported in the Sunshine State from a patient in Pinellas County. This brings the total imported dengue cases to 24 this year.

A Miami-Dade resident was reported as the state’s 14th imported malaria case.
Health officials say no counties are currently under mosquito-borne illness advisory or alert.
