The Malaysia Ministry of Health reported an additional human rabies case/death in Sarawak. According to officials, the case is a 5-year-old boy from Kampung Mambong, Jalan Penrissen, Kuching, Sarawak.

The child died on November 2, 2019 while undergoing intensive care at the Sarawak General Hospital (HUS). Samples for the rabies test sent to the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) were rabies positive on November 6, 2019.

The child presented with symptoms in mid-October and on October 21, 2019, he was taken to the Sarawak General Hospital when his condition deteriorated.
