The first person to contract Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the United States of America is now Ebola free and ready to go home.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas nurse, 26-year-old Nina Pham talked to reported this morning at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, where she was transferred for treatment last week.

“I feel fortunate and blessed to be standing here today,” Pham said. “Throughout this ordeal, I have put my faith in God and my medical team.

“I do not know how I can ever thank everyone enough for their prayers and the expressions of concern, hope and love.”

Pham said she looks forward to going home and seeing her dog, Bentley, who also recently tested negative for Ebola.

Before Ms. Pham came out to address reporters, Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief of the infectious diseases branch at the NIH said, “She is cured of Ebola.”
