The patient, who a had recent travel history to West Africa, presented with symptoms of fever and nausea, was admitted to the hospital and placed in a negative pressure room.

EVD was ruled out Wednesday night by analysis by the Public Health Ontario Laboratory.

Sunnybrook has been designated as an Ebola virus disease referral hospital in Ontario, to receive any suspected case of Ebola.

As a designated referral hospital we have sophisticated infection control systems and procedures in place designed to limit the spread of infection, protect health care workers and provide the best care possible for the patient.

The number of confirmed, probable and suspected EVD cases in the three West African countries is approximately 25,000. In addition, more than 10,000 EVD deaths have been reported.

Canada has never had an Ebola case diagnosed with its borders.
