In a follow-up on the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in Poland, the State District Sanitary Inspector in Rzeszów, Poland released a statement on September 1 reporting 158 confirmed cases of Legionnaires’ disease and 18 deaths.

The majority of cases (157 of 158 cases) reside in the following locations of the Podkarpackie Province: Rzeszów (106), Rzeszów poviat (36), RopczyckoSędziszów poviat (3), Dębica district (4), Łańcut district (2), Jasło district (1), Przeworsk district (1), Niżna district (1), Przemyśl district (1), Kolbuszowa district (1), and Stalowa Wola district (1).
Diphtheria in Africa: Outbreak in Guinea
One case resides in the neighbouring Lublin Province, in Opole poviat.
All 18 fatal cases had comorbidities and were between the ages of 53 and 98 years (nine men, nine women).
