An outbreak of salmonella earlier this month has sickened some 56 students at the University of Queensland’s Cromwell College, according to a Sydney Morning Herald report today.
The report states that students began showing signs of illness on Apr. 6, in which four students required hospitalization for their illness. Fifty-six students displayed symptoms and 17 tested positive for Salmonella PCR.
A Queensland Health spokesperson said the department was investigating the source of the outbreak, “Queensland Health was made aware of this issue, and is working closely with the dean and students of the college,” she said. “This was a point source outbreak and has not reoccurred.”
