The Health and Family Planning Commission of Hubei Province has reported the first human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in the province. Officials say the male patient, aged 50, was hospitalized for isolation and management in a stable condition. He is a poultry worker involved in poultry-culling, and investigation revealed that his infection is related to exposure to H7N9-carrying live chicken imported from other provinces.

From 2013 to date, 634 human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) have been reported by the Mainland health authorities.

Regarding the third wave in the Mainland since November 2014, a total of 194 cases have been reported, including 72 in Guangdong, 39 in Fujian, 38 in Zhejiang, 17 in Jiangsu, seven in Anhui, seven in Xinjiang, six in Shanghai, two in Hunan, two in Jiangxi, two in Shandong, one in Guizhou and one in Hubei.
