Measles outbreak

The Auckland Regional Public Health Service, in a measles outbreak today, reports the outbreak case tally is now 71 since the beginning of the year.

Nationally, New Zealand has reported 158 measles cases year to date, 147 were unvaccinated or under vaccinated.

Outbreaks of measles have also been reported in Canterbury and Waikato.  Cases have also been reported in the Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Northland , Capital and Coast and Southern DHB areas.

Syphilis

The Auckland District Health Board is warning people of the increased danger of the transmission of syphilis amid an outbreak of the disease, according to a One News Now report.

So far this year, there have been 124 cases of the sexually-transmitted disease reported, an increase on the 120 reported at this time last year.
