The Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) is closely monitoring an additional human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Fujian. According to the latest report of the Mainland health authority, the 27-year-
old male patient’s case was confirmed yesterday (December 3) and he was hospitalized for isolation and management in a serious condition.
This is the 23rd human H7N9 avian influenza case reported from Fujian province.
“Locally, we will remain vigilant and work closely with the World Health Organization and relevant health authorities to monitor the latest developments,” a spokesman for the DH said.
“In view of cases confirmed on the Mainland, members of the public should maintain good personal, food and environmental hygiene at all times during travel,” the spokesman added.
“All boundary control points have implemented disease prevention and control measures. Thermal imaging systems are in place for body temperature checks of inbound travelers. Suspected cases will be immediately referred to public hospitals for follow-up investigation,” the spokesman said.
