The Florida Department Agriculture and Consumer Services reported the second confirmed case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) for Florida in 2023.

The four-year-old, undervaccinated Miniature Horse in St. Johns County suffered with lethargy, inappetence, dysphagia, incoordination and hind limb weakness.

The animal was euthanized.
