The Japanese Ministry of Health reported Monday, Tokyo, Osaka, and Ibaraki Prefectures reported that the following 13 men have been confirmed as monkeypox (mpox) patients as a result of laboratory tests.

In Japan, monkeypox is designated as a category 4 infectious disease under the Law Concerning the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Medical Care for Patients with Infectious Diseases (Law No. 114 of 1998), and notification is required.
