In an update on the dengue outbreak in the Philippines, during the week ending Sep. 21, officials reported an additional 8,856 dengue cases nationally.

This brings the total for 2019 to 322,693 cases, including 1,272 deaths.

This is higher compared to 149,849 cases with 774 deaths reported during the same period in 2018.

Duterte’s daughter

In a follow-up on the condition of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter, Kitty, recent reporting say the youngest daughter is improving.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Veronica, fondly called Kitty, is on the way to recovery.

Kitty is among over 800,000 Filipinos immunized with the controversial anti-dengue vaccine, Dengvaxia, according to former Special Assistant to the President and now Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.
