In a follow-up on the dengue fever outbreak in Vietnam, the Ministry of Health has recorded more than 60,000 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 97% over the same period last year. This number increased by about 8,000 cases compared to a week earlier.

Currently, is the peak of the dengue epidemic, the number of cases has increased sharply in the South and started to increase in the Central region. In fact, 80% of cases and 100% of deaths (36 cases) due to dengue fever have been reported in the southern region.

It is forecast that the number of new cases of dengue fever is on an increasing trend, especially in the southern provinces (currently 6,000-8,000 new cases per week). 

Experts said that dengue fever in the first months of this year has been complicated and has not reached its peak yet. Specifically, through the chart of case progression by week, in the last 4 weeks, the number of cases of fever accounted for 50% of the cumulative number since the beginning of the year, and the number of deaths accounted for 45% of the cumulative number since the beginning of the year.
