The Biden-Harris Transition announced today the formation of the Transition COVID-19 Advisory Board, a team of leading public health experts who will advise President-elect Biden, Vice President-elect Harris, and the Transition’s COVID-19 staff. The Transition COVID-19 Advisory Board will be led by co-chairs Dr. David Kessler, Dr. Vivek Murthy, and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith. Dr. Beth Cameron and Dr. Rebecca Katz are serving as advisors to the Transition on COVID-19 and will work closely with the Advisory Board.

“Dealing with the coronavirus pandemic is one of the most important battles our administration will face, and I will be informed by science and by experts,” said President-elect Biden. “The advisory board will help shape my approach to managing the surge in reported infections; ensuring vaccines are safe, effective, and distributed efficiently, equitably, and free; and protecting at-risk populations.”

On the advisory board include Luciana Borio, MD, VP, Technical Staff at In-Q-Tel; American immunologist, virologist, and former public health official, Rick Bright, PhD; Vice Provost for Global Initiatives and chair of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, Ezekiel J. Emanuel, MD, PhD; Cyndy and John Fish Distinguished Professor of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Atul Gawande, MD, MPH; Clinical Assistant Professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Celine Gounder, MD, ScM; Executive Vice President of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Julie Morita, MD;  director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota, Michael Osterholm, PhD, MPH; Executive Director and President of Global Health Council, Loyce Pace, MPH; Professor of Emergency Medicine at the UCSF School of Medicine, Dr. Robert Rodriguez; and Professor of Medicine at the UCSF School of Medicine, Eric Goosby, MD.
