The Ministry of Health is concerned about the complication of the measles epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports.

“Today, we are very concerned about the incidence of measles. Since the beginning of this year, 56 cases of suspected measles have been registered in Kazakhstan. Of these, 20 have been laboratory confirmed in 7 regions, and another 20 cases are under investigation,” said the Vice Minister of Health, Chief State sanitary doctor Aizhan Esmagambetova at a briefing at the CEC.
Suspected cases of measles were registered in 11 regions, confirmed today in seven regions.
“65% of cases have been registered since the beginning of March. Measles is characterized by high contagiousness, is transmitted by airborne droplets and poses a 100% danger to unvaccinated individuals,” Esmagambetova said.
How contagious is measles? Answer: Very
Caused by a highly contagious virus, measles spreads from person to person by breathing, coughing, or sneezing. Signs and symptoms of measles include rash, high fever and a cough, runny nose, or red, watery eyes. People can spread measles up to 4 days before and 4 days after they have a rash. Measles can lead to serious complications, such as pneumonia (infection of the lungs), and even death.
