Vietnam reports nearly 50K dengue fever cases, MOH requires both to ensure prevention of COVID-19 and treatment of dengue fever

According to the Ministry of Health to date, the whole country has recorded 49,113 cases of dengue fever, 18 deaths.

The number of deaths from dengue fever concentrated in Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Phu Yen, Soc Trang, Tay Ninh, Binh Thuan.

The Ministry of Health requires both to fight against the COVID-19 epidemic and to ensure regular medical examination and treatment, especially dengue fever, which is on the rise.

In order to proactively treat and reduce the mortality rate due to Dengue hemorrhagic fever in the current COVID-19 epidemic situation, the Ministry of Health on September 29 sent a written request to Directors of affiliated hospitals and the Directors of Health Services of provinces and cities:

Strictly comply with the criteria of safe hospitals and clinics for COVID-19 prevention and control. Medical examination and treatment facilities regularly assess hospitals and clinics for safety against COVID-19.

Disseminate information so that people know the suspicious signs of dengue disease and inform the nearest medical examination and treatment facilities that can come for medical examination and advice.

Directing medical examination and treatment facilities to review and adjust the procedures for receiving, screening and specific classification criteria for each case of Dengue hemorrhagic fever in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic to ensure safety against COVID-19 infection.

Arrange the clinic to re-diagnose dengue cases at time frames suitable to the actual situation at the unit to create other conditions that are convenient for dengue patients and ordinary patients;

Actively and proactively immediately implemented training on diagnosis and treatment of Dengue hemorrhagic fever for medical examination and treatment facilities in the area.

Directing facilities to strengthen monitoring of Dengue fever patients who are inpatients during ritual days and weekends to detect and promptly treat severe cases of Dengue hemorrhagic fever. .

Consolidating and maintaining the activities of “Dengue Dengue fever treatment group” and “Dengue Dengue fever prevention and control hotline” at medical examination and treatment units so that they can regularly consult and exchange exchange information about expertise, request support when necessary.

Ensure adequate facilities, equipment, drugs, intravenous fluids, blood and blood products, and flowcharts for first aid treatment of patients, especially high-molecular solutions to prevent shock;

Implement good environmental sanitation, spraying, killing mosquitoes, preventing mosquito bites for patients and their families.
