Mayor John Dalipe is urging residents to fully support the City’s campaign against dengue, as Zamboanga City remains in the outbreak mode with cases totalling 2,971 as of July 9. Dengue death toll remains at 20 since January 1 this year.

Dalipe said with the onset of rainy season, people are strongly advised to consistently follow the 4S Strategy against dengue -Search and Destroy” mosquito breeding places, “Secure Self Protection” from mosquito bites “Seek Early Consultation” when signs and symptoms of dengue occur, and “Say Yes to Fogging” as a last resort when there is an impending outbreak.

He said cleanliness, which is one of his priority thrusts, is a basic preventive measure for dengue and other diseases.

The chief executive likewise called on the City Health Office to continuously intensify and maximize resources to prevent and control dengue, a mosquito borne disease.

Based on CHO records, the top 10 barangays with high dengue cases as of July 9 are Sta. Maria, Pasonanca, Tetuan, Putik, Tumaga, Mercedes, San Roque, Calarian, Divisoria, Cabatangan, Boalan, Guiwan, Tugbungan, Talon-Talon, Sta Catalina, Culianan and San Jose Gusu.
