The Ministry of Health reports that the Public Health Institute (ISP) confirmed the first case of Monkeypox in the country through PCR analysis.
This is a young adult from the Metropolitan Region with a history of travel to Europe and who presented symptoms of sudden exanthema (spots on the skin), vesiculated lesions, skin scabs, accompanied by decay and lymphadenopathy.
The Regional Health Authority applied the surveillance protocol established by the Ministry of Health.

The person is in good health and without complications.
The recommended measures for people is to consult a doctor for people who have traveled abroad and have had close skin-to-skin contact, including sexual intercourse, and present: skin lesions of sudden onset without any other explanation, with one or more symptoms such as fever, swollen glands, muscle or back pain, and weakness.
