The Directorate-General for Health (DGS) confirms 4 more cases of human infection with the Monkeypox virus in Portugal, with a total of 100 cases so far. Most infections have been reported to date in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, but there are also cases in the North and Algarve regions. All confirmed infections are in men between the ages of 20 and 61, with the majority being younger than 40 years. The new cases were confirmed by the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA).

The identified cases remain under clinical follow-up and are stable. Information collected through epidemiological surveys is being analyzed to contribute to the assessment of the outbreak at national and international level.

The DGS continues to monitor the situation at the national level in conjunction with the European institutions.
